By Dan Ambrose: In looking at the recent training camp photos of WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) as he prepares for his September 10th fight against Polish challenger Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) in Poland, it’s pretty clear that Adamek doesn’t have a ghost of a chance of winning this fight. Vitali, 40, looks very muscular and cut up.
Indeed, Vitali looks like a 30-year-old fighter rather than someone who just 40. This isn’t good news for the undersized Adamek. He really needed to wait until there was a soft heavyweight champion to fight, like say the winner of the August 27th match between Alexander Povetkin vs. Ruslan Chagaev fight for the WBA heavyweight strap. Adamek at least would have a fair chance of beating one of those guys.
I don’t think he can beat Povetkin, but he would have a decent chance to get a win if he fought ugly and hit and ran all night long like he normally does. But he has no chance of beating Vitali no matter what kind of style he uses. Vitali looks totally sharp in his photos during his sparring session. What strikes me is the muscles that he’s put on around his arms.
